Maybe grass and sand?

Nope, that wasn't successful either.

Umm, Dad, I don't know about this...

Interesting. I don't mind it so much on my hands.

Eeeee it's under my feet as well!

Don't worry, Ball, I'll save you.

Kiama Show

Today we went to the Kiama Show. It's kind of like the State Fair except way, way smaller and with less fried food. We walked around and looked at various entries in competitions such as 'Best Rose' and 'Best Flowers Arranged on a Saucer' (seriously). Then we went to watch a motorbike show. After that was a lumberjack show all the way from Canada. You'd think BB would love to see something that was almost from his homeland, but not so much. This is how it went:

Oooh, what's going on over there?

A lumberjack show!

Yaaay!
(Insert loud chainsaw noise  and loud cheering here).

Save me, Dad! This is the worst thing that's ever happened to me.
The chainsaw part is over.
Hmm, I guess it's okay now.

11 month old Bad Baby!

OMG!!! This is so much FUN!!!
Yes, the sign gets smaller and further away the older he gets.
Things BB likes:
- balloons
- balls
- his dad
- the outside
- bottles of water

Things BB can do:
- almost walk
- throw his head back and cry if we take away one of the things in the list above
- say 'ba' (aka bird... or ball... or several other things)
- drop his food on the floor while looking at me and smiling
- feed himself with a spoon (if I put the food on and hand it to him... but that still counts, right?)

Things BB doesn't like:
- sand
- being near sand
- looking at sand
- loud noises
- being sat on/kicked/used as a surfboard by his cousin

Randoms

How dare you take a photo of me. You'll be sorry for this.

I'm a very fancy boy eating some very fancy toast.

Ok, fine, I'm not that fancy. I like floor toast.

Before and After

Today we went to a birthday party for one of BB's friends. Sadly I forgot to take photos when we were there, so I just have the before and after. Not particularly exciting.

Before:
The angle is due to the dad not wanting to actually
sit/stand up off the couch to take the photo
After:

Delicious peach.
He ate the whole thing and didn't even want to give up the stone.

I think I missed a spot...

Quality BB photos

Today wasn't one of BB's best days. It did make for some interesting photos though! We came back from Sydney in the morning, and the cousins stayed here for most of the day. So of course, BB was too excited to sleep in the afternoon (again!). By later in the day, he was not so excited about things.

Mmm rice cracker
This look is known as 'Santa Claus'

By dinnertime, he was pretty much crazy, as you can see in what might be the worst photo of BB ever taken:

What he'll look like in 30 years time after a couple of beers...

Just give me one more, honey.

And I'm so sleepy I can't even sit up.

Sydney and a spider

On Wednesday Aunty Von picked us up and we all went up to Sydney to stay at Grandma's house. On the way, we stopped at the most wonderful place in the world - Ikea!! After spending a total of three hours there, we started what is supposed to be a half-hour drive back to Grandma's house. One and a half hours later, we finally got there. So much fun.

Yesterday we went into the city for coffee, lunch, and a stop by the art gallery. We took the ferry, which Picey said afterwards was his favorite part of the day:

Such beautiful hair blowing in the wind.
I'm a pitty cool guy.

We bought some sandwiches and ate lunch in Hyde Park. BB had so much fun chasing the birds. Thankfully he didn't manage to catch any. And also thankfully, they didn't manage to catch him.
Pigeon.
Ibis (creepy birds that I was always scared of)
Picey had my camera for a while after lunch and took a bunch of photos. Some of them weren't too bad.

Fountain in the middle of the park.
Apparently he'll pose for his brother but not his aunty...
After lunch Aunty Von took Picey to the art gallery while the rest of us went to the Botanic Gardens to walk around and play for a bit. BB was supposed to go to sleep, but he was being very bad and just wanted to stay awake.

I'm so tired I don't even know what I'm supposed to do with these.

That's a pathway, not a road. I'm not that neglectful.

I remembered! It's delicious!
Later that night, BB and the cousins had gone to bed and Grandma, Granddad, and Aunty Von had all gone out. So I was left at home alone to fend for myself. It was fine until I moved my bag to get my pjs and this is what ran out:

It's called a huntsman. It's not really dangerous but it will bite, and it can move like the wind. So I was extremely proud of myself for catching it. Crisis averted.

Bad Baby's New Job

Today we went up to Sydney to watch the dad play baseball for the first time. It was our first time, not his. He's been playing nearly every week since September, but it has always been bad timing or raining or something else. And I'm pretty sure it will be our last time, because watching a baseball game for two hours while trying to keep a baby from sticks, rocks, bats, flying balls, etc is not the easiest.

Anyway, it seems like BB's chosen profession is a baseball manager.

Ok, you're up to bat next. I think you should use this one.

Listen up team. we're changing the lineup.

Frank, you'll be fourth, and Jimmy, you're after Frank.

With a high-paying career as a baseball manager, BB will be able to spend a lot of time at fancy restaurants, so he's learning all about them.

Excuse me, sir? We're ready to order over here.

I'll have the braised rabbit, with a nice glass of pinot to go along with it.

Delicious.

Grown up Bad Baby

Yes, my good sir, I'll take the steak medium rare please.

Now we just have to make sure the soil is well watered,
and our basil will thrive.

Bad Baby on a Train (and other stuff)

It had been a while since we went down to visit the cousins, so we caught the train down to Kiama for the day. I let BB out of his stroller to look/crawl around on the seat. He didn't have any shoes one because his one pair is a little too small, so he couldn't walk around on the floor (I'm not too concerned with germs, but the train floor is past even my limit). So I spent the whole trip (45 minutes, seemed like 3 hours) trying to keep BB on the seat. He was enjoying himself. Me, not so much.
Wow, Mum, this is awesome!

Oooooooh. So pretty.
A couple of the cousins' friends were over and they were all playing dress-up. Sadly, BB did not want to participate.

Duck-transformer man? Who knows.

Way too quick pulling the wig off for me to get a photo.
Picey modeled his new school uniform. Only 3 weeks until he starts Kindergarten!

All grown up.

A New Toy for a Big Boy

Some other babies I know got a fantastic new toy for Christmas, and since I only spent $3 on my neglected son's Christmas present (the ball), I thought I would get it for him:

a pool with balls in it! Woohoo! And the wonderful thing is, it's just as much fun without the water! Perfect for the game I mentioned earlier ('taking things out'). I just love to have little plastic balls rolling all throughout the house.

And for the Big Boy section of this post:

First time cleaning big-boy teeth
First time in big-boy pajamas
And a photo from last week that I forgot to post but I think is funny.
Now if he could just go back to sleep during the night like a big boy, we would all be very happy.
